Eurovision nightGot myself some ice cream and will be making myself compfy on the sofa so I'm ready for the big, glittery, horrible music, camp, pointless politics, drama that is eurovision. It never disappoints me. :la:
Sadly I will be alone for this one. Matt had to do a concert he didn't want to do, so I will be live tweeting (humonlazydiva) my impression of the whole shebang. :D
The Echo chamber dilemmaThe promise of the Internet was that unlimited information and experiences would draw us together. But instead it seems to have driven us apart.
For years I've observed this behavior but haven't been able to vocalize it correctly. Originally I called the behavior of collective opinions as "the hive mentality" of the Internet. But that wasn't exactly right and I often got called out on it. The most prominent example was when I made a comic about a guy disagreeing with opinions and being shouted at till he remained quiet, eventually fading into the background with everyone else. The consensus of that comic was that if you disagree with someone you aren't bullied into not speaking, but instead are free to go someplace else where people who do agree with you exist. And you know what? That wasn't what i was trying to convey, but is sadly true. The Internet is not a hive mind. It's many tiny pocket echo chambers of mutual agreements.

Heads Up: Free New Drawing Program

I saw this on Tumblr and figured I'd let you guys know about it. It's a free art program called FireAlpaca available for download:


NEW AVAILABLE ART PROGRAM
It seems to be a mix between SAI and photoshop, simplified. It even has a stabalizer that works even with the mouse.
Best of all, it's free, and works for both Mac and Windows.

Nothing happened to mine when I downloaded it, and my Norton Antivirus said it was safe and trusted. Nor have I heard anything bad about it from other people on Tumblr.

Yeah I saw that. It seems to be coming and going every so often. The alt site is actually where I got my download. I didn't think to post a link to the alt site (I thought it was just my bad internet lol). Link is now added! Thanks for letting me know it isn't just me having a hard time with it :D
